Exploit toolkits
Yeah, I used a few about a year ago when I had a botnet. Really good and a lot easier to get people to visit a site rather than download a file... Must get round to making another botnet. :D

Option A. I hate VB.Net and love C/C++. Would love to a command line crypter that could be compiled on MSVC++ 10 or CodeBlocks. :D

Sockets(in Python)
Very nicely written tutorial. Shows why Python is such a dependable programming language when it comes to writing exploits.

Hiding web-shells from the casual browser.
Mhm, very true. I usually name mine: Apache config.php contactus.php etc. Just something along those lines.

Perl or Ruby
Perl is a better language. If you are looking to learn the language only to create exploits, give up. Python is a good language too. I prefer Python over Ruby and Perl.

Creating a backdoor with nc and connecting to it
You also need to portforward for this to work. If you don't port forward, it will just listen and never connect.
