    So what OS does everyone currently use? I just downloaded Zorin OS 6, the core version and installed it today :D Also I use Windows 7. I kinda grew up with Windows and this is my first time ever using a Linux OS.

    im a Linux mint user, stripped it down and install XFCE light weight DE. its super fast, looks nice and works with my wifi.

    Gentoo x86_64 primarily then Debian 6 x64 and Windows 7 Pro x64. I do a lot of programming and much prefer coding in a Linux environment, although I can code using Win32 API now.

    Thats cool, I have been looking on information and tips on how to configure Zorin, lol after like 3 installation last night i finally got it to work :D So any suggestions on software i should look into? I'v e been reading articles and stuff.

    Just some of my favs, i have things like codeblocks, GDB etc. For IRC i love the terminal based irssi.

    Gimp - free photo editor (a lot of people say a copy of photoshop)

    Depending on the uses for the computer...

    wireshark - packet capture/analysis tool
    nmap - port scanning and enumeration tool
    aircrack-ng - wireless attack toolkit
    nikto - web app scanner
    nessus - scanner
    metasploit - exploit framework
    burp (pro if you can afford the licence) - web app auditing tool

    Awe thanks you guys this is really helpful information. Gimp was actually loaded onto my Linux OS already as well as Wine. I have skype on my Windows OS already, but I will deffinitely look into the other programs as well :].

    Since this is my first time using a Linux OS I found a pretty helpful manual and i've been exploring the system every time I get a chance so I can locate things easily. I'm still trying to figure out some stuff but for the most part I'm getting the hang of it. :D
