[News] Backtrack 5 R3 Blackhat Edition Release Announced

    Going to be interesting to see what they have updgraded it with. Though i must say that im not the biggest user of backtrack, i'm only using Ubuntu, Fedora or Ultimate Linux.

    The probably are just going to make an update to the repo's and change the 2 on the default desktop to a 3...or so that's what it looks like in the demo pics. Only time will tell!

    they should stop bringing out new versions and just bring out updates, no need for a whole new version of the distro. But anyway im not a backtrack user, mint all the way.

    Better finding a distro you prefer then adding the tools you specifically need/want. Personally I use debian/gentoo boxes.

    Hmm Linux Mint was the third linux ditro i checked out. But i must say that i found it to close to windows in the interface, and i didn't want to configure it myself so i changed it to ubuntu instead. But i would definitly recommend ultimate Linux i got it on a cd in a magazine i bought.

    I haven't tried Ultimate Linux; but I might just look into it. I personally love Fedora and Red Hat. I could care less for Ubuntu, and Debian.
    As for Backtrack 5; I do have to say, I am looking forward to see what is new... Once I have some space available I am so going to download it... That or I might just download it tonight on my server; we'll see...

    I just updated my netbook a couple of days ago, and I was right. All they did was change the desktop picture, and updated the repo's/added some tools. I thought it wasn't that much to get excited about.

    I like mint due to the fact it works with my wireless, unlike Debian :/ and i dont know how to get it working.
    As for BT r3 im not going to be getting it, i have BT r2 on live CD.

    I have never experienced any problems with my wifi. It sounds weird.

    @Phage, some wireless cards have proprietary drivers that are sometimes not available in linux with an open source counterpart. Broadcom chipsets are extremely notorious for this.

    Hmm it is actually kind of weird, when you think about how popular linux has grown to be. Anyways you ar probertly right, i ave only used Asus computers and they were using Atheros chipsets.

    The only issue I've had with atheros is being unable to connect to WEP networks. You can crack it, but you can't actually use it. XD

    So it's been awhile since I looked here; since then I have tried bt5r3, both on Qemu, live, and installed. I'm not too fond of all of it, but not a bad set of tools all-in-all... Did notice that the wireless loves to randomly shut out though lol.
    @m0rph I have yet to have any problems with Broadcom wireless cards; actually I have used linux with I would say almost every brand of card out there, and have yet to have any real problems. Perhaps this is just something to do with Debian? I say this cause I don't use Debian, the only Debian distro I have used is BT lol.

    well the more the tool they add, the more you'll learn...

    backtrack is just a media i see....
