Annoying filters at college
  • So im currently at college where i have loads of free time, i want to be able to check my facebook, twitter etc but the filter has blocked them all. Is there an easy way to get around this or will i have to keep working on my php script that requests the source and displays it???

your php script sounds like a dead end; that's exactly what a browser does [edit: oh, you meant like a proxy! disregard this post XD]. anyway, i've no idea about what they're doing to filter/block you, but i think you may have to resort to proxies :<

Set up an SSH server on your home computer, use Putty to SSH into your machine from College. You'll have a secure, encrypted tunnel, and you can use the internet providing you set up Firefox correctly (which doesn't take long).

I used to do this at college.

SSH Tunnel, put putty on usb or something and rent a cheap VPS or go to http://anapnea.net/ (down atm)
