What do you guys think? Will Google finally overtake Apple with android? Motorola has far more 'mobile' patents available than Apple, think it'll heat up between the two companies?

This is one of the smartest things Google has done in a while. They are going to Dominate the market now.

Home automation is nothing new, but damn I'd hate to have a life ruled by android. Can you image the havok we could cause with a vulnerable OS on someones oven!

    door.close
    gas.up
    delay(10000)
    ignite(gas)
    "your pizza is now ready"

To be honest, i have had a WP7 phone, an Android and an iPhone, and i liked the android the most, its functional, doesn't need to be "jailbroken" to do the simplest of tasks, great personalization, good performance to price ratio and doesn't become an expensive paperweight after each major revision of the OS.

On the topic of the motorola buy out, its a bit of a risky move with the whole economic situation and motorola being an american company. It will pay off in big way for google, with the whole smart phone market booming, but could also fuck them if the american economy downturns heavily, whilst the core "google"(search engine(the way it should be)) won't be hit, because advertising is where they get their money from and even in a depression people still need to get their brand out and recognized, and market themselves.
