Just out of curiosity I'm looking at learning a bit of Perl or Ruby, which would anyone suggest? I know both are used for writing exploits but does anyone have any experience of either and want to share their opinion and help me decide?

Thanks mate, I think I'm going to look through a few books/tut's then decide. I want to get a bit of knowledge about a language like ruby or perl before Uni next year.

Either. Perl is useful for quickly hacking together a script to get the job done. Ruby is a much more extensible language and is useful for large-scale projects. You can learn both. Perl is very easy to pickup. Ruby's syntax annoys me, but it's a promising language.

Perl is a better language. If you are looking to learn the language only to create exploits, give up. Python is a good language too. I prefer Python over Ruby and Perl.

I went with perl I cant remember how long ago, perl's opened up a lot of doors where scripting is needed. I don't just use it for exploitation either.
