Before yesterday i tought security cameras installed in various places like malls, schools, colleges can't be hacked ,As far as i seen their feeds can be hacked by hacking their control center and replaced with fake feeds, this is what i know about hacking security cameras yesterday,

yesterday me and my friend got bored so we tought of watching some movie in his home,we watched a movie named"OCEANS ",

I saw an interesting scene in that movie ,While the thieves are robbing a place with security cameras, they do a smart thing ,they pointed a powerful INFRA RED torch towards the security cam and it went down,

It amazes me and it made me to think about how security cameras can be hacked ,

Is it possible to hack a security cam with a IR torch?

Is there any other ways out there to beat the security cams?

Hope i will get some useful ideas here :)

If you know the frequency they operate at you can buy or make a jammer. However you'd only really do this if a) your in way over your head and pulling off a big 'job' and b) have money to burn.

You can also hardware hack some cameras. This involves stripping the cables in some cases or taking the camera to bits. This obviously isn't much use if a) the camera's in a sealed unit or b) you need the camera to look normal. You would also need to social engineer your way into a position where you can fck about with the camera/cabling. The other problem is a lot of mid-high end security systems use armoured/shielded cabling which you won't be able to strip back with a set of pliers and a knife.

I'm not sure whether IR light down the lense would work for real, however if the camera's using fibre optics then possibly in theory.

The only other idea I have would be to hack directly into the computer (if it uses one) and switch the source of the feed to a premade movie of the scene as usual. If the CCTV system used DVR's and TV's then again you would need to social engineer your way around to change the source of the feed to your premade movie - without a knowledge of CCTV equipment you wouldn't want to try that.

Most solutions differ greatly to bypass CCTV, mainly because the systems in place are so varied, recording to VHS, tape, hard drive, CD, DVD, DVR all make it impossible to know which to use without a prior knowledge of the security system. If it's a specific place your talking about the usual thing is to apply for a job in admin or a department which will land you a job at least close to the security system. I do security guarding/door-staff work every so often and personally speaking a lot of places would easily get robbed if ex-employees got the urge.

Just a quick question, how to detect the operating frequency of the security camera in a place?
is there a device for it?

You could use a frequency scanner, however I used to just read the documentation :P lol. If you know the make/model it usually has it online.

Everything can be hacked, if its radio frequency google warviewing i think it is, where you have a screen with a radio receiver and when near the camera change the frequency all the way through until you get that.

You can also Jam/spoof i believe with this by getting a radio transmitter and transmitting on the frequency same as theirs with your camera feed. However yours needs to be more powerful from theres or closer to their receiver than the camera.

If its IPCAM , you will need to do some info gathering on the network and maybe it is in a WEP crackable network and then just nmap it and you can see the ip, then just open in a webbrowser, they are rarely password protected.

If its anything else , like webcam, you will need to hack the computers controlling/viewing it.

    Security cameras are fun...

If its a 2.4GHz wireless camera you can use ANY scanner to pick them up... and you could record a bit of it amplify it and loop it, then they'd only see your feed and not the real one.. exactly like in the movie "speed"

If its a web cam, you can try to get a meterpreter console on the computer to control their cam, and if its a wired cam you could use the same thing to vlc into it and see/control the camera...

If its an ip camera google probably has it listed online where you can view and maybe control it...

As far as IR you cannot hack it with it but you can blind the fuck out if it with either IR light or a laser I made a hat (that needs fixed) that puts out allot of IR light to blind cameras so they can't see your face.

In the usa wlan cameras are inexpensive and money is all people care about.. wifi/ip based cameras are anywhere and it makes for some good fun for those who like to go war-viewing
