For employability CISSP is one of the best, but its tough so your gonna want to start with Security+ first. If your just looking to learn, the Offsec ones are very indepth so would be a good buy. Ive heard a lot of bad things about CEH so i would't go there. Atm im developing some online flash based courses for iExploit, but these wont be done for another couple of months but will definately be best value if you want to wait.

Were trying to make it advanced as possible right now im doing Web Application Security, the SQLi module is currently about 40 slides with maybe 15 to go. It depends on how fast you are at learning.

  • Phf you don't need penetration courses. Most of them just teach simple shit. If you wanna actually learn, read. What are you into? Web exploitation? System exploitation? Network exploitation? Programming? Tell me and I'll create a list of books that may be useful to you. With some hard work and lots of reading you can learn A LOT. Also, some useful links for aspiring "hackers" such as yourself:

Well that's good for the basics but I wouldn't classify if as "hacking". You should learn PHP, HTML, etc. Learn HOW SQLi, XSS etc works. Or you will never actually learn them to the fullest extent. I'd suggest taking my advice and heading over to
    http://www.w3schools.com
And learning some web languages. I would start with HTML then work your way to javascript > PHP > SQL > ASP

Once you learn these languages you can look through web sources such as myBB, Joomla etc and hopefully find 0days. Also, just so you know, SQLi, XSS, rooting etc is not exactly hacking. It's more of the basics. If you want to learn hacking, learn to program in the web programming like I suggested and find some 0days :)

I learned about rooting servers from a single video. Not much more you need to know. I'd take cert's as well as self-study anyday, as Xinapse says, you want to be professional? can't prove it with your bookshelf/ebook collection. Certificates are well worth the money. CISSP is alright, it's more project based and management from what i've heard, I would not pay for CEH, i'd pay for OSCP (PWB, WIFU, CTP).

    Good luck :)
Hopefully you're on your way to learning a lot.

Also, quick tip. If you don't know English, learn it. If you do, you're writing a bit poorly. Learn some basic grammar ;)

    Not required though :p
