The whole raging at tools and pentest OS's is getting annoying, but think of it this way,

Would you rather build a car from scratch manually cutting the parts using skilled labour, or have it done using machines in 1/8th of the time.

In real life an employer isnt going to want you to do it the longer '31337' way when you can do it much quicker with tools.

    And to be honest

i Dont see theres much more skill involved in

    wget exploit
    gcc exploit.c
    ./a.out

Than just using metasploit to execute it?

Somethings are better done manually, but somethings are better done with tools you cant classify them all in the same boat

This is how I think about it...when you're first learning you should try your best to do everything as elongated as possible, then once you understand what they do and how they work, there's really no need to ever do it the long way again, unless ofc if you have a specific task needing to be done (return addresses, anyone?).
    while( !(succeed = try() ) );

The way I see it as as you've said Xinapse besides also think of it this way...

You have a bike, you enjoy it but there is a faster new thing called a motocycle but you decide that its more "31337" as they say to "upgrade" to it, so you stay with your good'ol bike and get to your destination much slower than you would have otherwise...

In other words I'm saying......... get out of the stone age!
It's like saying do you want to make your own hammer or have a factory make the hammer? uhhhhhhhhhh.. I'll take the pre-made one thanks...

I'm not saying give up on the manual way, for example I'd much rather compile from source than to just apt-get install myshit
but why bitch about something thats made to make your life easier?

Agreeing with this. Nice analagy lol

I'm not saying using metasploit or any other tool is skiddy. I'm saying most people who use these tools don't even know how they work. The moment it becomes skiddy is when somebody just blindly points msf towards a target and types exploit.

You have previously :P The problem is that's how metasploit works.

There are people who do it and understand it and there's everyone else. Whoever is reading this that doesn't understand that is part of the latter group.
