So... I have x86 Windbg (microsoft's debugger) on my netbook. I happened to delete the install file and wanted today to install it on my desktop. Now the link to Windbg sends you to here. Download the latest dev files (which includes windbg) it asks you to download 1.7gb's worth of shit to get the 17mb file I actually wanted! Why the hell compile all the shit in one file? Luckily I found the old download link. Yeah pretty petty but still... where's the logic?

    /rant :P
  • Because Microsoft wants you to download all of their shit. This is why I hardly ever touch winblows anymore.

I can really see why people use nix systems. Everytime I end up on the microsoft website it ends in a headache.

@Xin: I do use Immunity Debugger, I have olly as well but windbg is quite good too... I just like having the option and being able to use both :)

I get annoyed when my .net frameworks keep breaking, also the most annoying thing is i tried to download Visual Basic 2008 a while back when i was coding vb.net, it also installs about 15gb worth of sql server files with it, how unnecessary

Oh don't get my started on sql server. I've got VS 2010 ultimate, VC++ 2008 and VB 2008 so I have so much .net shit installed I NEVER use.

lol, microsoft are the kings of bloatware. really, i was installing their flagship windows media player today (only reason: to burn a cd), and the first things it tried to get me to allow: sending data back to microsoft, allow a bunch of shitty online features, and overwrite all of my filetype associations and make it the default media player. seriously. fuck that. you can NEVER allow microsoft to install with "reccomended" settings, even the manual custom configurated install won't be hastle free. when will they learn?

I very much doubt it! I'm hoping my next experience with MS might be a bit better... paying the extra to get Win7 Pro 64bit on my new laptop (When I eventually get round to ordering it). I'll end up dual-booting no doubt.

i really like win7 tbh (besides the same old structure), it's second nature to navigate, really convenient.. i do want to dual boot again though, i might shrink my partition before it's too late. but, i've never really adapted to linux in the same way, probably because i was too busy compiling the world.

Dual-booting's the way forward. When you find a good nix configuration to suit your needs you'll prefer it.

The only thing really stopping me from moving fully to linux is Microsoft Office, i use it a lot. Also i have a paid version of Win 7 which i wanna put to use :L

Microshit has struck again! Word crashed while I was screenshotting visual studio to add to my coursework and now the work i've spent the past f*ck knows how long on has gone (and it's due in tomorrow!). It's vb.net work but still, I'm unbelievably pissed off. This would never have happened in openoffice! Someone really has decided my week is going to turn out shit.

More microsoft rants, the latest MSN Messenger update broke MSN which is why i cant go on, it says
'There is an update available, you cannot open MSN until you update'

I then download the update and install and it says

'You have a newer version than this'

Fuck this im moving to pidgin, i cant wait till i get my laptop so i can get Ubuntu as a host OS.

Yeah theres a lot of thinks that annoy me,

MS Office wont run on my Windows because of .net framework is corrupt even though ive tried reinstalling it loads, so i have to run that inside a VM to do any work

I hear you! I mean, that's why I installed linux. It's a much better programming environment. (Linux ♥)

I could not stay in windows all the time. Not now I'm into Perl, just doesn't seem right in windows lol. For none .net languages I'd always try learning in linux first.
