GreyHat, but i dont really believe each hacker has a certain 'hat' set in stone. I believe the types of hackers are
    - Profit inspired hackers
    - Hacktivists
    - People just doing it for the challenge

Im just doing it for the challenge and to learn, and if it means breaking into a couple of servers then it has to be done.

this is a hacking process so there are 4 types of hackers-
    1)Coders
    2)admin
    3)script kiddies
    4)suicide hackers

    Care to explain?

Coders-they are usually developing malwares or hacking s/w
admin-admin is one who who doesn't develop any s/w but specializes in network and use tools made by coders
script kiddies-they are those who are still learning
suicide hackers-they may be good or bad hackers but they never use any protection for them or do hacking for fame

Alot of people would disagree, A) admin is just a script kiddie net admin in the terms you've described and B) script kiddie != hacker.

Most admins have to be pretty knowledgable your thinking of someone that has just set up something like a minecraft skins forum that knows nothing about networking.

Net Admins know/use tools 'hackers' use, but they use them for the intended purpose (to analyse networks and systems on the network). They can't really be called hackers... they don't hack anything (that's what pentesters are contracted to do). Sorry for my appaulling choice of words due to lack of sleep.
  • Hacker gets thrown around too much. You're not a hacker. Hackers don't call themselves hackers, so we you never know if you know a hacker or not. If you call yourself a hacker, you're not. Hackers don't hack for fame, for credits, none of that shit. They hack for knowledge, the thrill of it.

Hey my RAT's nice and shiny, the code wants to eat the user alive when they try to use it though lol.
