    Have you tried going into device manager on windows, removing the VBOX entry for your ALFA (double check its your alfa)... then open virtualbox... change network settings to NAT or bridged to your standard NIC, bootup *nix well bt4, connect the ALFA after booting up and it may work.

    It does suck however I installed virtualbox with bt4 final on my win7 laptop and had issues with the adapter working by itself. The above suggestion worked fine :)

    Give me a sec...will update with screenie.

    EDIT:

    It isn't showing up in my dev mngmnt as it shouldn't show up in there after you run the VM then connect the usb. It showed up under the USB controllers category in dev manager originally. So look for anything related to VBOX under that heading when expanded.

    My setup is the following:

    Laptop [win7] = host
    bt4 = guest os
    laptop card = bridged adapter
    ALFA = connected after linux boots.

    I only have one adapter active, bridged between laptop card.
