You could try this fix for another wireless card in ubuntu with similar problem

    Link:
    http://www.mail-archive.com/ubuntu-bugs ... 13445.html
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1311886

    In your case probably:
    rmmod rtl8187
    rfkill block all
    rfkill unblock all
    modprobe rtl8187
    rfkill unblock all
    ifconfig wlan0 up

Did you reboot the system after? Try that and if it doesn't work then i'm afraid your stuck. I'm guessing your using vmware with it. It's a known bug in r2 with vmware, muts from the bt forums has officially recognised it as a bug with vmware and the compat-wireless drivers. If your dual-booting I don't see why there would be a problem if it is the same problem.

Only solution I can see is to try virtualbox or switch back to final or r1 i'm afraid.

That really sucks. Think your going to have to downgrade to final then. It's odd its the same problem in virtualbox :S

The only thing I can find for backtrack is:

    http://www.backtrack-linux.org/wiki/ind ... _error_132

I'd try that and see if it works. That seems such a pain. It won't happen to me next time i'm on bt, Because i'll go mental. I'll try it now to see if mine works and whether they've update drivers or something.

I'm running it with virtualbox at the moment and just updating everything before i try. I'm on a desktop so I don't see why there should be a problem. I did all my video tutorials in bt4 on my desktop so no idea. I've gotta go drop the missus off and let bt4 update and i'll report back after I test it.

I have no idea I really don't if I can't get it working I'm going to have to live-boot to do further videos. i've tried but it's not recognising mine at all anymore. I'm going to downlaod vmware and try, i meant to switch anyway so it's a good opportunity.

    VMWare 7.0.0.203(etc)

I need something that I can use with camtasia so let me know if it does work. If not i'll have to find a recorder for linux thats half-decent.

Only thing I can suggest is run the live disk. Unless you want to try and download the drivers seperately and start from scratch i'm sure you can find the rtl8187 drivers.
