    It seems that server is not ideal for hosting the boards channel:

    Irssi Output (sat 06.10.10 15:12 GMT +1):

    -!- Irssi: Looking up irc.malvager.com
    -!- Irssi: Connecting to irc.malvager.com [209.59.218.99] port 6667
    [after 5min]
    -!- Irssi: Not connected to server

    I had nothing else running else than irssi in the terminal and any other PC or laptop was connected to the network so the full broadband was aviable.

    Looking forward to join the irc...

    You're the only user online so you automatically become operator so marked with a star. If it is so it's because the channel is not registered so disappears from server list when without users and the first user connecting an "creating" the channel becomes operator.

    If the channel is registered on the server I can't explain that happening ;)

    I think I was the only online user and one other time and I hadn't the star! anyway! :)

    After a few researches:

    Just as I said, the first user connecting to the channel and so creating it on the channel becomes operator on that channel. He can give away those permissions and give them along to other with commands you can find by using Google or any other search engine you prefer.

    In your last case, when two user were online and you had the op-rights, I am sure you connected before the second user, what explains everything if you red the lines above.

    Nope were not, however we had trouble with the Malvager server as the register channel commands didnt seem to work.

    also a note, you need to be regged/identified on a nick to register a channel (in before captain obvious). and meh, the malvager network is pretty terrible, but i don't see a reason to host your own other than for privacy (which you certainly won't get from malvager as they don't even support ssl afaik, much less have trustworthy opers haha). plenty of reliable established public networks for use, rizon is my personal favourite, but i get that malvager is at least logical in the type of community this is.. why am i still typing.

    Yeah you can definately be OP, were moving the IRc channel to another server , you recommend one?

    Users can see we have an IRC channel, the link is in the header, we may move to a different IRC server soon.
